COHO FISHING - VALDEZ ALASKA - AUGUST 2007 PART 2

In August 2007, the Hanks family arrived in Valdez to join in the fun.  This has become an annual event for the six of us.  This year, AJ, Denise and Megan joined the Silver Salmon Sisterhood by fishing in the 2007 Women's Salmon Derby.  Shannon, Zach and I manned the boat and the girls fished all day.  We didn't win the Derby, but Denise placed 21st overall with a 14.36 pound Silver.  AJ caught a 12.74 pound Silver and Megan reeled in a 11.80 pound Silver.  It turned out to be a real good time.  The next day Zach caught a 13 pound Silver all on his own, that fish weighed about 1/4 of what Zach weighs!  We did have a slight sprinkle one of the days (which re-confirmed the Shannon Hanks Valdez rain curse) but it wasn't near as bad as it has rained on us there in the past.  We all sure look forward to this trip every year, in fact I live for it.
